Four-Star-Two-Tone

Recently I have been working on refining several designs for Field Notes covers. This is the latest version.

One of the requests I often get is to increase the capacity to at least 4 notebooks. Increasing the size and number of cords is simple, but the design cannot stop there. The additional stress put on the leather by adding more notebooks can cause the top and bottom to 'cave in'. If you have every used a TN style notebook you know what I am talking about.

In the past I have addressed this challenge by using a thicker or stiffer leather. I really like working with Horween's SHF leather with is a thinner leather but has great color and texture.

BTW this is available on my Etsy Shop: http://www.etsy.com/listing/244613098/

Here is what I have come up with:

The primary color in this one is Ebony (black with undertones of brown). The solid brass eyelets are positioned as close is possible to the edge of the leather. The stitch line actually runs under the edge of the eyelets.

Easily fits 4 Field Notes (or any 3.5 x 5.5" notebook) without them buldging out the end.

I chose to use a red cord to complement the black. I really like out it stands out against both the black and the brass.

The inside color is a Natural tan. In fact you can reverse the cover and place the tan on the outside. The additional layer adds to the body and stiffens up the whole notebook without making it too stiff.
